Virtual sessions

The artist community we serve, many with mild to severe medical issues, is a population at the highest risk and will be the last to return to public spaces. Therefore, it has become necessary for our 2020/2021 visions to pivot to creating the most supportive, engaging, and sensory rich virtual arts programs possible. Art Therapy Express can’t help but see potential during these challenging times. It has become clear that we need to create sustainable bridges that decrease isolation for our studio participants, the special education school programs, and the nonprofit organizations that we serve. We believe it is our responsibility to provide virtual sessions until it is safe to return to the studio, at which time we will continue our both in-person and virtual sessions for our artists that are homebound.

Fun from anywhere!

Art is essential, now more than ever, to provide a venue that promotes “a voice” of creative self-expression, friendships, and joy for our artists and their caregivers while advancing their social, emotional, and physical goals. During these challenging times we have discovered the potential to create new programs for both previous and new audiences that are struggling to feel like they are part of a community:

  • Virtual Sessions that can be accessed from anywhere for studio participants, the community at large, nonprofit and for profit organizations, and DFRC’s Hand-in-Hand buddies.

  • Paint Parties for Caregivers

  • Special Projects by UD Mechanical & BioMedical Mechanical Engineers (Rotating Easel & Adjustable Paintbrush)

  • Internships (University of Delaware & Delaware Technical Community College)
